Master Photographer Reveals Soul
An architectural detail freshly revealed in the space the eye dismisses in a crowded skyline, the juxtaposition of the natural and urbane, and the deep black and white contrast–these distinctive images are all recognizably the work of Michael Joseph, a self-taught photographer delivering a sense of creativity and wonderment.
Michael Joseph’s signature style captures an extraordinarily view of metropolitan cityscapes and beautiful country landscapes that are rarely glimpsed by harried executives or foot-weary tourists. He is praised for his ability to present a combination of style and sophistication with a sense of drama from an otherwise barren, cold, and isolated cityscape of concrete, glass and steel. He also evokes a romanticism from forgotten farmlands and homesteads with remnants of weathered wood, and rusted metal. Michael Joseph reveals a moment in time where lines, light, shape, and shadows converge together, composing a sticking art form of its own. There is an unexpected joy of discovery throughout each location including the towering icons of New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, Paris, and Barcelona. The breathtaking vistas of New England, Midwest, and Southwest as never seen before.
His images evoke feelings of strength, unity, passion, accomplishment, inspiration, and innovation. There is an underling theme that suggests the power to overcome obstacles and to aspire to reach goals. The photographs are representations of the freedom Michael Joseph respects and values. They are a salute to the people, places, and things of diverse culture.
Michael Joseph has traveled to all forty-eight contiguous United States, many international countries, and continues to make interesting photographs of subjects otherwise gone unnoticed. His work has appeared in many solo exhibitions, and has been honored in several juried art shows. His photographs can be found in several important museums, corporations, private collections, publishing, television, movies, and retail stores.

Why I Love What I Do
I was born in the industrial town of Methuen, Massachusetts, on June 12, 1962. My passion for photography began as a five your old child watching my father make images reappear almost magically with his Polaroid camera. About the same time, I had received two lasting impressionistic toys from Santa Claus, that undoubtedly shaped my life; Light-Bright and View-Master.
At age seven, my family moved to rural Southington, CT, this is where I would grow up and graduate high school. I would develop my curiosity and creativity with my own Pocket Instamatic camera. New York City was only a few hour’s train ride away, and I spent endless days nurturing my interest. The skyscrapers, bridges, and structures were identified as works of amazement in a land of infinite possibilities.
The art of photography is the medium of the moment. When making a photograph, I am actually seeking, and concentrating on finding a new dimension that is inherent by light and shadow – time and space. It is an instantaneous event that occurs unknowing to the architects, planners, and builders.
I was intrigued, and this act of passion exemplified creativity, wonderment, and the joy of discovery. I consider myself sincerely blessed to have found a succinct purpose and meaning in life -a life that I can use to help and serve others.

“I believe there is a place that exists within, a place of clarity and vision, where my life moves in agreement with a higher consciousness.”
