Michael Joseph was a guest speaker at this event and was doing a 3 day course titled “Art as a Business” outlining Business/Action Plan, Defining Your Product/Service, Pricing and Practice, Your Marketing Plan , Developing a Brand, Communications Strategy and Distribution Outlets. Camera 2 Camera is a photography and video conference where all participants are encouraged to bring their camera.

Top Winner in Fine Art Architecture Category

Michael Joseph was announced as the top winner in the fine art architectural category for the 2012 Sony World Photography Awards. Billed as the global photographic event of the year, the Sony World Photography Awards celebrate the very best in photography from around the world, from the next generation of emerging photographers through to the established masters of the art. Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute Workshop Lecture

Michael Joseph was the featured speaker for Module 5: Pricing and Practice. Broward Cultural Division, The Community Partnership for Arts and Culture (CPAC), along with ArtServe, Inc. announce The Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute (AEI) for South Florida artists. The AEI is a course of study designed to assist individual artists of all disciplines (visual, musicians, writers, media, theater, performing arts) by cultivating and advancing their business skills, and is designed at strengthening their operating infrastructure and expanding their businesses.

Culture Vultures’ Sunday Happenings

Speaking Engagement from 2- 4pm at the Alvin Sherman Library, Michael Joseph chronicled his life as a professional photographer from 1955 to the present. Using traditional 35 mm film photography, his contemporary cityscapes, abstract and scenic photography exemplify creativity, wonderment and the joy of discovery. Please join us; refreshments donated by Whole Foods Market of Plantation were served after the program which is free and open to the public. Culture Vultures, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501-C-3 organization dedicated to bringing cultural programming to Broward County.

Career Day Guest Speaker

Michael Joseph has volunteered to share his professional experience and career information with our students at Sunrise Middle School on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, in session from 8 -11am. Our goal is to provide our students with speakers who are excited about what they do and will help our students start to see all the wonderful future possibilities that education creates for them. His talk will include information regarding his educational background and his special training and skills needed for his particular career. He will also make a slide presentation of his photographs.

Point of View – Exhibition & Book Release
January 15, 2011   Fort Lauderdale

Michael Joseph proudly presented a collection of images from the past 15 years that he has been a professional photographer. The exhibit titled “Point of View” began with his early career in 1995 and concluded with his most current work. Included in the show were his favorite, most memorable and award-winning images that he has made on his many excursions across America and abroad. In addition, he signed limited edition copies of his newly released 200 page, hardcover coffee table book. Exhibition dates were January 1 – February 28, 2011.

New Directions  Photography Exhibition
September 11, 2004   New Jersey

This very special photography exhibition featured a series of images selected by Charlotte Scherer, gallery director at Art Forms Gallery located in Red Bank. Charlotte was very intrigued with Michael Joseph’s photography, and thoroughly went through every image on his website carfully choosing images from each of his cityscape collections. The New Directions exhibition also featured the accomplished photography of George Tice, Vincen Serbin, Mark Ludak, Jenifer Rutherford, and Mitchell Bell. Exhibition dates were September 3 – December 1, 2004.

LA: People, Places, Shadows
December 6, 2003   Los Angeles

Michael Dawson Gallery, which features the work of contemporary photographers as well as vintage photographs, has from its beginning showcased fine photographs with a connection to Southern California. This exhibition specifically spotlighted contemporary photographers using Los Angeles as subject. Michaels’s L.A. cityscapes, but in all new way, represents the “Places” of the exhibition. With his unique angles and composition engage the viewer in stories about what was happening in and around these buildings and public art pieces. Exhibition dates were December 6, 2002 – January 18, 2003.

New York City Embraced
September 7, 2003   Coral Springs

Michael Joseph astounded us again in his show New York City Embraced featuring his black-and-white photographs. In God We Trust is a breathtaking shot of the Word Trade Towers and The Towers of Light is a night shot of the projected artificial light beams temporarily shining in tribute to the collapsed twin towers. The picture features the qualities typical of his photography including strong lines and unusual angles. Joseph isn’t afraid to climb girders or to lie down on the sidewalk to get the shot he wants. He evidently demonstrates patience and persistence.

Light & Shadows

Lee Fogle, Gallery Director has carefully assembled a very special collection of over 25 photographs spanning the ten year career of international photographer Michael Joseph. This exhibition is being billed as a “Best of Collection” which will include some never seen before images and many well-known award winning images. The showing will offer the private collector a rare opportunity to purchase several rare limited editions of handmade and signed Silver Gelatin Prints. Exhibition dates are September 18 – October 8, 2003.

New York, New York

In this show, his crisp, black and white images gave fresh perspective to familiar skyscrapers, landmarks and vistas. Joseph is fearless in pursuit of what he wants to photograph. New angles are his specialty. The black-and-white medium works to his advantage by emphasizing the tension of light and shadow. It should be noted that the self-taught photographer takes things as he finds them, rather than manipulating the placement of buildings via computer tinkering. Exhibition dates were April 3 – May 7, 2003.

An architectural detail freshly revealed in the space the eye dismisses in a crowded skyline, the juxtaposition of the natural and urbane, these distinctive images are all recognizably Michael Joseph’s. BrownTrout Publishers, the innovative leader in the retail calendar industry with a reputation for selecting only the best photography, wanted to create a calendar unlike any other to celebrate what is arguably the most photographed city in the world. Joseph was an obvious choice for his signature style, and one we are most proud of.

Plain Geometry

The Thomas Center Gallery proudly presented a variety of exciting exhibitions annually. This year the focus was turned to self-taught artists. Featured this month was the dynamic imagery of an exceptional fine art photographer, Michael Joseph. Lines and light came together to transform all that we thought we knew about our most common subjects and everyday objects. His unique photography style stretched the boundaries of a traditional medium into a true artistic form. Exhibition dates were September 14 – October 27, 2002.

Art in the Capitol Building Rotunda

Then-Secretary of State Katherine Harris announced an exhibition of black and white photographs by Fort Lauderdale artist, Michael Joseph. The exhibition on display is part of the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs’ Capitol Complex Exhibition Program. Michael Joseph used the traditional medium of photography to portray the inherent beauty of the industrialized. He transformed otherwise ordinary subject matter into mysterious and enticing imagery by capturing interesting geometric shapes that would otherwise go unnoticed. Exhibition dates were July 15 – October 13, 2001.

Art in Public Places – Concourse E

Miami-Dade Art in Public Places and the Miami-Dade Aviation Department announced the opening of a new exhibition by Michael Joseph. Self-taught artist Michael Joseph uses the camera’s lens and finely honed technical skills to capture the everyday from a unique perspective. His carefully composed and exquisitely detailed interpretations of architecture, industrial landscapes, and isolated objects lure the viewer to investigate further. Joseph blends mystery and precision, evoking a sense of drama and harkening back to early 1900s Constructivism. Exhibition dates are April 5 – July 3, 2001.

Paris — City of Lights
April 6, 2000   Fort Lauderdale

Renowned local black-and-white cityscape and architectural photographer Michael Joseph announces he will be having a new solo exhibit titled Paris – City of Lights at The Florida Collectors Gallery. The fine art gallery is located on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. The gallery has been open since 1990 and become a well respected resource for exhibiting and representing artists primarily from the South Florida area. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Valet Parking is available. Exhibition dates are April 1 – August 31, 2000.

Boundless Expressions: Renewal of Spirit
September 19, 1997   Tampa

Michael Joseph is the award-winning recipient of the Purchase Award of the Boundless Expressions: Renewal of Spirit, which reflected the essence of healing and restoration. Artists from 12 southeastern states responded to a call for entries with more the 450 representations of their work. Boundless Expressions has been created to promote and support the Arts In Medicine Program at Moffitt. An annual regional juried art exhibition, it provides an opportunity for broad interpretations and limitless expressions devoted to exploration. Exhibition dates were February 26 – May 15, 2000.

Site-Seeing: The Art Of Summer
December 11, 1999 Hollywood

Michael Joseph, best known for his black & white architectural and geometric photographs, announced he will be having an exhibit of his newest collection titled Site-Seeing: The Art of Summer. On view will be over 40 variable sized images. In the summer of 1998, he took a 10,000 mile road trip in his Jeep Wrangler visiting 23 states in just under 48 days. His trip originated in Fort Lauderdale, traveled west to New Orleans, north paralleling the Mississippi River to Minnesota, turned east at the Great Lakes, onward to New England.

Public Art & Design -Terminal 2

The Broward Cultural Division presented a photography exhibition by Michael Joseph at The Lee Wagener Art Gallery located in Terminal 2 of the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. Lee Wagener Gallery offers Broward County artists an excellent opportunity to exhibit their work. Artists are selected through the Public Art and Design Program and exhibits are changed every three months. The far end of the gallery has been reserved for the exhibition of video artworks from Broward County’s permanent art collection. Exhibition dates were September 1 – November 1, 1997.
