Photographic Project
New York, New York
In this issue Michael Joseph writes about his photography of the Big Apple. The six page commentary takes us through a single day in the life of a "street photographer" as he journeys through the metropolis. On the way he explains his casual approach to his work, the equipment, style, and technique he uses. He also shares his in depth experience and knowledge of shooting 35mm film for fine art photography. Beauty in Black and White
"HomeRuns"
By Jillian Mills
The face of South Florida is constantly changing…so fast in fact,
that we wish we had an entire issue to dedicate to the plethora of new
condos, design stores and restaurants popping up all over its landscape.
While many impulsive developers and store owners seem to frequently swing
and miss with these fledging ventures, we decided to dedicate a special
section to those who didn’t – the newcomers who managed to
hit a home run this time around.
Beauty in Black and White
Although the Michael Joseph Artists’ haven Gallery on Oakland Park
Blvd is not new – it opened in that location in November of 2006
– it is definitely a place worth visiting again and again. The sleek
gallery abounds with black and white photos cityscapes, abstracts and
scenic photography taken by Joseph himself. “My signature style
is that I make ordinary things extraordinary. That is what has really
given me my name,” Joseph said. This certainly rings true in his
newest exhibition, a retrospective of everything Joseph has seen over
the last 12 years in such cities as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Mexico
City, and Paris.
