Artexpo New York Marks 30 Year Milestone World’s Largest Fine & Popular Art Fair Celebrates the Past and Looks to the Future.
Artexpo New York will mark 30 years as the world’s largest fine and popular art fair when it returns to the Javits Convention Center from February 28 to March 3, 2008 – and it has an extra special show planned to celebrate.
Since debuting in 1978, Artexpo New York has helped launch the careers of some of the finest American artists of the 20th century, including Andy Warhol, Peter Max, Robert Indiana, Leroy Neiman and Robert Rauschenberg. In honor of its role, Artexpo will set up a special Hall of Fame to commemorate a selection of its brightest stars from yesterday and today.
“Artexpo New York has helped propel the careers of many famous names, and continues to do today,” said Eric Smith, Vice President of The Art Group, the show’s producer. “Our 30th show will celebrate this legacy by paying homage to the past while also looking forward to the future.”
Artexpo New York 2008 will also expand its seminar series – currently open only to members of the trade – to include public lectures. These free educational forums will be run by prominent art experts and will give consumers an opportunity to learn more about the latest art trends. More details and other special events will soon be announced.
More than 50,000 visitors, including trade buyers and consumer art enthusiasts, are expected to attend the 30th anniversary event, where they can purchase both traditional and cutting-edge works ranging from original paintings and sculptures to limited-edition lithographs, giclees, animation art, photography and more. The 2008 show will also have an expanded selection of international art available, showcasing the latest trends in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
For buyers looking to invest in emerging artists, the SOLO pavilion will feature hundreds of independent artists who have yet to sign with a gallery or art dealer. SOLO is the ultimate venue for artists to be discovered, not only by gallery owners and art publishers, but by collectors and enthusiasts in search of something unique.
