 Art Miami
December 2-6, 2009
Art Miami 2009, the City’s prestigious, long-running contemporary art fair will celebrate its 20th anniversary December 2-6th, proudly showcasing a wide variety of art from more than 100 leading national and international contemporary art galleries and prominent institutions.
In its 19th edition, Art Miami moved to a new location inside the emerging Midtown Miami Arts District, adjacent to the Miami Design District and Wynwood Arts District. The Fair attracted over 32,000 attendees in a six day period and was applauded for the depth and quality of its art, including a selection of special exhibitions and curatorial projects, outdoor sculptures and video installations -- all of which appeared within a new 125,000+-square-foot state of the art pavilion. European, Asian, American and Latin American galleries and institutions also contributed unique curated exhibitions in the BlackRock Art Video | New Media Lounge and through additional art projects. BlackRock, the nation’s largest asset manager, was the 2008 Fair’s main sponsor and official host of the VIP lounge.
The venue additionally boasted a restaurant offering delectable cuisine and beverages by Touch Catering as well as the VIP Lounge - a second story loft offering a panoramic view of the fair. Ample parking was provided through the use of a new four-story parking garage with 1,000 spots, located directly across the street from the pavilion. Convenient valet parking and shuttle bus service was offered to and from all surrounding satellite fairs and the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Through the success of the 2008 Art Miami fair and heightened interest in 2009, Art Miami continues to expand its reputation, attracting an ever-broader collector base and media attention worldwide. It is the “can’t-miss” event for all serious art collectors, art enthusiasts, curators and museum professionals – a fair that offers the opportunity to acquire some of the finest 20th and 21st century art and provides a closer look at some of the most distinct works at the forefront of the international contemporary art movement.

Winter Las Vegas Market
Show to be held Feb. 9-13, 2009
World Market Center Las Vegas announced the Winter 2009 Las Vegas Market will take place from Feb. 9-13, 2009. Market officials said these dates best align with exhibitor business cycles, relieve industry show conflicts and fall during a period in which Las Vegas hotel rates are more favorable for U.S. and international attendees.
“We are committed to meeting the evolving needs of our customer base, and adjusting our market schedule is one way of doing that,” said World Market Center Las Vegas President and CEO Robert Maricich. “The global footprint of Las Vegas Market is phenomenal, and last January was no exception, having seen an increase of 60% in the number of international buyers in attendance, representing more than 100 countries.
Maricich said the new dates also reflect World Market Center’s commitment to growing the gift segment in Las Vegas. Hosting the Las Vegas Market in February allows premier gift buyers and exhibitors to avoid that segment’s already rigorous January event calendar.
The Summer 2008 Las Vegas Market is scheduled for July 28 through Aug. 1, and early registration and hotel bookings are currently available online. Artexpo New York Marks 30 Year Milestone World’s Largest Fine & Popular Art Fair Celebrates the Past and Looks to the Future.
Artexpo New York will mark 30 years as the world’s largest fine and popular art fair when it returns to the Javits Convention Center from February 28 to March 3, 2008 – and it has an extra special show planned to celebrate.
Since debuting in 1978, Artexpo New York has helped launch the careers of some of the finest American artists of the 20th century, including Andy Warhol, Peter Max, Robert Indiana, Leroy Neiman and Robert Rauschenberg. In honor of its role, Artexpo will set up a special Hall of Fame to commemorate a selection of its brightest stars from yesterday and today.
“Artexpo New York has helped propel the careers of many famous names, and continues to do today,” said Eric Smith, Vice President of The Art Group, the show’s producer. “Our 30th show will celebrate this legacy by paying homage to the past while also looking forward to the future.”
Artexpo New York 2008 will also expand its seminar series – currently open only to members of the trade – to include public lectures. These free educational forums will be run by prominent art experts and will give consumers an opportunity to learn more about the latest art trends. More details and other special events will soon be announced.
More than 50,000 visitors, including trade buyers and consumer art enthusiasts, are expected to attend the 30th anniversary event, where they can purchase both traditional and cutting-edge works ranging from original paintings and sculptures to limited-edition lithographs, giclees, animation art, photography and more. The 2008 show will also have an expanded selection of international art available, showcasing the latest trends in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
For buyers looking to invest in emerging artists, the SOLO pavilion will feature hundreds of independent artists who have yet to sign with a gallery or art dealer. SOLO is the ultimate venue for artists to be discovered, not only by gallery owners and art publishers, but by collectors and enthusiasts in search of something unique.
